Picture Smart Growth

Irvington, New York
The Burnham Building is a 120 year-old historic building that sits on Main Street directly across from the Metro North Railroad Station. The redeveloped building’s first floor houses a new public village library, while the upper floors house 22 units of affordable rental housing for incomes between 30-60% of the area median income.

The building was designed as a "green" building with triple glazed Low-E windows, cellulose fiber insulation, non-offgassing paints and building materials and the conversion of an old greenhouse on the roof into a photovoltaically heated and shaded community room.
